Country recording artist Shane Yellowbird will trade in his cowboy boots for hockey skates this weekend as he participates in the Hearland Charity Hockey Game December 6th in Calgary. Playing along side cast members and friends of the CBC Sunday evening drama, Heartland, Shane will go head to head against Rob Kerr's All Stars while raising funds and awareness of Clagary's Big Brother Big Sisters program.
"I grew up playing hockey," Yellowbird began, "I really love the game and The Big Brother and Big Sisters Organization does some great work with the kids in Calgary so I'm really happy to help out."
The Heartland Mustangs, as the team is called, will consist of cast members Nathaniel Arcand (Scott), Jack Church (Jake), Gabe Hogan (Peter), Shaun Johnstone (Jack), Chris Potter (Tim) and Gemini award winning director T.W. Peacocke. The team is also comprised of two time Olympic Gold Medalist Cassie Campbell, Oiler Alumni Cory Cross, and World Professional Chuckwagon Association Champions Kurt Bensmillar and Jason Glass.
"We've got a great team put together so I think we have a good chance but in the end it's the kids that are the real winners, we're just going to have all the fun," Yellowbird laughs.
The game will take place at Calgary's Max Bell Arena (1001 Barlow Tr. SE, Calgary) Sunday, December 6th at 2:30pm (doors open at 2).
