Shane Yellowbird was the recipient of a Canadian Aboriginal Music Award presented at the awards gala Friday night in Halifax.
Yellowbird was awarded the Best Music Video for "Summer Day", a track off Yellowbird's debut album, "Life Is Calling My Name".
"The Aboriginal community has always been a strong supporter of my music career and I am honoured that they would ask me be a part of this festival and thrilled to receive this award in recognition of my music," commented Yellowbird.
Filmed in Ponoka, AB by Big Soul Productions, Summer Day features many of Yellowbird's hometown rodeo friends and neighbours and highlights those memorable days of hanging out at the local fair and rodeo.
The award was the perfect finish to an eventful November for Yellowbird. Earlier this month Shane released his highly anticipated second album, "It's About Time", performed for the first time at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, filmed a documentary on his appearance at the Opry as well as a video for his upcoming single, and hosted nine album release parties throughout Canada.
